Many of the islets are mere sandy cays, which tends to change their shape and position after tidal waves or during cyclonic conditions. The main reef, much of which is above water is crescent shaped and extends about 25NM (nautical miles) fro, “Pointe Requin” to “Puits à Eau” in the North
 
Population
The population of the island consists of fishermen and staff of the meteorological services and the National Coast Guard.
